ReSource Woodworks

ReSource Woodworks is a new program at ReSource, headed by furniture-maker and designer Spencer Clark, dedicated to the goal of creating unique, sustainable, functional, objects out of reclaimed materials.  By using donated, reclaimed materials to make furniture and home accessories, ReSource Woodworks hopes to provide the opportunity for people to buy new, affordable, eco-friendly wood products for the home.

Spencer came to ReSource from Minnesota in the summer of 2009.  After graduating from Hamline University in St. Paul with a Studio Art degree, he went into the woodworking field, working as a designer and cabinetmaker.  His award winning designs have been seen all over the country in shows in Minneapolis, Grand Rapids Michigan, and Denver.  Since he has primarily worked with reclaimed materials in the past, he is a natural fit for what we hope to accomplish with ReSource Woodworks.

What makes ReSource Woodworks different?  Usable, reclaimed building materials are donated to the ReSource Yard from the community, and given new life by ReSource Woodworks, turning things like old, unwanted decking or trim into new furniture and accessories that are built to last.  Not only do we aim to reduce the amount of waste accumulating in landfills, now with Woodworks we will also be able to create quality new objects out of the old, reducing the demand for new materials, and inspiring people with the possibilities of using reclaimed materials.
